Chen Yi Ning was born in 1979 in Chaozhou, and grew up in Hong Kong where she attended Canossa College and Po Ciu Catholic Secondary School. At Hong Kong Shue Yan University, she studied counselling psychology. She married in 2013, and has a son, Lu Junyi. Until 2007, Isabel Chan was a full-time insurance broker. She has, however, modelled, acted on television and in advertising, and acted in Cantonese language films and videos from 1999; her acting debut was in 1998.
