Hyun Ju Ho, more known by her stage name Jessi, is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter based in South Korea. She was born in New York, raised in New Jersey, and moved to South Korea at 15. Jessi debuted as a singer in 2005 under the stage name Jessica H. O., later changing it to Jessi in 2009. She was previously a member of the co-ed groups Uptown and Lucky J, both of which have since disbanded. After a four-year hiatus, Jessi gained wider recognition in 2015 by competing on Mnet's Unpretty Rapstar (Season 1), where she placed second. In January 2019, Jessi became the first artist signed to P Nation, a label founded by PSY. She left the company in July 2022 and later joined Jay Park's label MORE VISION from April 2023 to January 2024. On September 20, 2024, Jessi signed with the entertainment company DOD and launched her own independent label, UNNI, to continue her solo career and explore her musical style independently.
