Kim Sung Min was a South Korean actor. He rose to fame after starring in the popular drama “Miss Mermaid (2002-2003)”, which recorded a viewer rating of over 40 per cent. However, from 2008 until his death, he struggled with drug addiction and repeated drug smuggling arrests. He sought to save his career by appearing in dramas, including “Can We Get Married (2012-2013)” and “Three Musketeers (2014).” He was sentenced in 2015 to ten months in prison. He was released in early 2016. Shortly after his release, he was arrested again for drug smuggling and possession. After admitting to all the charges and prior to reporting to prison on June 24th, 2016, he attempted suicide and was in critical condition in a coma.
