Then, he got best new actor award in Baeksang Awards 1995 for the drama Sandglass, which is one of the highest rating drama of all time. Recently, he got best actor award in 2011 Fantasporto Director's Week, for his role in a melodramatic thriller movie, The Housemaid (2010). He has been an A-list actor in Korea for years and recently entered the international spotlight due to his starring turn in the smash hit series “Squid Game,” which became a global phenomenon after its release in 2021. He became the first Asian actor ever to be nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor at the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards, he was also nominated for Best Actor at the Golden Globes, the Critics’ Choice Awards, and the Gotham Awards. On February 26, 2022 Lee Jung Jae’s Korean agency Artist Company announced that he has officially signed with the American agency CAA (Creative Artists Agency).
