Park Ji Min, known as Jimin, is a South Korean singer-songwriter and dancer. He is a member as well as the lead vocalist and main dancer of BTS. He enlisted in the military on December 12, 2023. Jimin made his debut on June 13, 2013, as a member of BTS on Mnet's M! Countdown with the track "No More Dream." Together with the members of BTS, he went on to win a series of awards. Jimin first became interested in performing in grade eight after watching singer Rain perform. He subsequently moved to Busan High School of Arts' Modern Dance Department. After his dance teacher recommended he audition for an entertainment company, he decided to audition with BigHit (빅히트). Once accepted, he transferred to Korea Arts High School in Seoul, graduating alongside group-mate V in 2013. In August 2020, he graduated from Global Cyber University with a bachelor’s degrees in entertainment and media. The following September, he enrolled in Hanyang Cyber University’s graduate school for an MBA in advertising and media. He was given the President’s Award at Global Cyber University’s Graduation Ceremony on March 1, 2021. On December 31, 2018, Jimin released his first unofficial solo track called "Promise" for free on BTS' SoundCloud page. His solo single "Like Crazy" made history by making him the first South Korean soloist to have a number #1 single on the US Billboard Hot 100. Alongside the other members of BTS, Jimin was awarded the Hwagwan of Order of Cultural Merit by the President of South Korea for contributing Korean Culture and Literature to the World.
