Seok Matthew is as Canadian-South Korean singer, dancer and member of ZeroBaseOne (제로베이스원, often simplified to ZB1). He attended Western University but dropped out of the Health Sciences program to pursue his dream of becoming a singer. Before debuting, he spent several years as a trainee at HYBE Entertainment Japan where he was set to participate in the survival show that formed &TEAM but was cutoff before it started. He then moved to MNH Entertainment (MNH엔터테인먼트) spending another year and a half as a trainee. In February 2023, he entered the singing survival show "Boys Planet" where he finished in 3rd place and was able to join the project group. He made his debut in July 2023 as ZB1's vocalist and rapper with their first mini-album, "Youth in the Shade". They are managed by WAKEONE Entertainment (웨이크원엔터테인먼트) and their contract is set to last for two and a half years.
