Shibasaki Ko is a Japanese actress and singer who started her career at the age of 14 when she was discovered by a star agent. She became known for her performance in the controversial 2000 film, Battle Royale, which has brought her fame not only in Japan but all over East Asia. She also won critical acclaim for her role as Tsubaki Sakurai in the 2001 film Go, which earned her several awards, including the Best Supporting Actress Award of Japanese Academy, the Hōchi Movie Award, and the Kinema Junpō Award.
