Shin Dong Wook is an actor born in Seoul, South Korea. He graduated from Kukmin University and is the cousin of singer Kim Ki Bum of the K-pop group Super Junior. His acting career began in 2004 with his first supporting roles in the KBS2 dramas "Oh! Pil Seung Bong Soon Young" (오!필승 봉순영) and "If You Only Knew" (알게될거야). After his role in "War of Money" (쩐의 전쟁 ), he was awarded the 2007 SBS New Star Award. He had been out of the public eye since 2010 when he was discharged early from mandatory military service upon diagnosis of complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), a chronic disease that causes extreme bouts of pain without a known cause or cure. In 2016, he published "Writing, Space Journal," a novel about a man in a space elevator construction project that drifts into the galaxy. After rehabilitating to a level of maintenance with his pain management, he made his comeback with a supporting role in the 2017 MBC action drama "Lookout." (Source: MyDramaList).
