Chen Si Cheng, born to a wealthy family in Shenyang of Liaoning Province, is a Chinese actor, director and screenwriter. He graduated from the Central Academy of Drama in 2003. Because of his proficiency in singing, reciting and hosting, he often appeared in school's cultural performances and was also the broadcaster in the school broadcasting room. In 1994, the 16-year old Chen left home for the first time and went to Shanghai to study in Xie Jin Academy of Film and Television Art of Shanghai Normal University. In 1996, he was admitted to Shanghai Theatre Academy under the guidance of Professor Li Xue Tong. In 1999, two years after being expelled from the drama for fighting, he was officially recommended by Prof Li and admitted to the Central Academy of Drama. In 2002, during his junior year, he participated in the film "Mother Judge" and won the “Best Newcomer Award” at the Beijing University Student Film Festival. Since then, he has played various leading roles in many films and TV series, and has a long list of awards and recognition to his name, including “Best Actor”, “Best Director”, “Best Screenplay”, “Best Film”. In 2012, he established Shanghai Chenya Film & Television Culture Media Co Ltd and produced the movie "Beijing Love Story". In 2014, the self-written, directed and acted film was released on Valentine's Day. On its premiere day, the film hit a record high with a box office of 102 million, and the box office exceeded 200 million on the 3rd day of its release. By 8 March, the box office exceeded 400 million. After going public with their romance in 2012, Chen and his "Beijing Love Story" costar Tong Li Ya held their wedding in Tahiti on 20 January 2014.
