He primarily communicated in Taiwanese Hokkien with his elders at home, and during his time on the sports team, he became fluent in Taiwanese Hokkien from interacting with players from the central and southern regions of Taiwan. Chiu joined the volleyball team at Hu Shi Elementary School in the second grade. During his time at Cheng Cheng Junior High School, he served as the vice-captain of the volleyball team. After returning to Taiwan from filming in Beijing, Chiu held a press conference announcing his intention to withdraw from the mainstream music market, and even considered leaving the entertainment industry altogether. This decision stemmed from his disappointment with the media's focus on his personal life rather than his music and acting career. However, Chiu continued to frequently perform with his self-formed band at various underground venues. During his time away from the screen, he also worked as a DJ at a café for two years. On December 7, 2021, Chiu met Tiffany Xu while filming "When a Man Falls in Love" and they became engaged. On December 10, they announced their marriage on Facebook.
