Wu Xiu Bo is a Chinese actor, singer, musician, recording artist, and producer. Considered to be one of the best actors in China, he is perhaps most widely known as Xin Jie Liu, the protagonist of Before the Dawn, for which he received several awards. Wu was born and raised in Beijing, China. His mother is a pharmacist, and his father, who died in 2007, was a diplomat. Wu Xiu Bo has one older step-brother who is a physicist. As a teenager, he became involved in the arts, particularly painting, drawing, poetry, and singing. In 1984, he enrolled at the Central Academy of Drama, from which he graduated in 1987. During the period 1988 to 1995, he worked as a dramatic actor in the China Railway Art Troupe, as well as working part-time as a singer. Despite his success as an actor, Wu became tired of repeating the same roles day after day, and in 1995 decided to become a full-time musician. From 1995 to 2000, he was a very popular singer in Da Fu Hao and Heping House, two popular bars in Beijing, also performing many of his own compositions. Years later he claimed that this was one of the happiest periods of his life. In 2000 he self-produced his first and only album “War of Love”, a collection of 10 original songs. He also pursued a variety of business ventures. In 2002, Wu was encouraged to return to acting by producer Jian Zhang and actress Pei Liu. He made his television dramatic debut as a detective in the series "Crime Investigate" at the end of 2002. Since then he has worked in a wide variety of series and developed a reputation for his versatility as an actor, as well as his abilities in drama and music production. In some cases, he filled all three roles (actor, production, music), such as in "A Special Road" (2004)..
